About this project
This project explores the creation of a complete visual identity for ENMA, a conceptual streetwear brand inspired by Japanese culture and mythology. Developed in my Intermediate Visual Design course (Winter 2025), the goal was to design a strong and cohesive brand system that communicates resilience, authenticity, and modern street style.
The concept is influenced by Enma-Ō, a figure from Japanese folklore associated with judgment and strength. These ideas shaped the brand’s core values, focusing on self expression, inner strength, and individuality. The identity reflects these themes through bold design choices and a confident visual language.
The logo was designed using sharp, geometric forms to create a clean and modern look while still feeling powerful and distinctive. Katakana characters are subtly integrated to reinforce the cultural influence and add depth to the design. The system also includes logo variations, clearspace rules, and usage guidelines to ensure consistency across all applications.
The color palette is limited to black, red, and white to maintain a strong and recognizable identity. Each color carries meaning, with black representing strength and elegance, red symbolizing energy and protection, and white expressing simplicity and clarity. Typography choices support the brand’s tone by combining bold display type with clean, minimal text for readability.
Additional graphic elements such as patterns, textures, and color blocking were created to enhance the overall aesthetic while keeping the design minimal and intentional. These elements allow the brand to remain flexible across different formats without losing its identity.
The final outcome is a complete brand guideline that demonstrates how the visual system can be applied across merchandise, packaging, business cards, and digital platforms. This project highlights my ability to build a thoughtful and consistent brand from concept to execution.
