About this project

GRRRL STYLE YYC is a collage of the femme punk scene in Calgary. Experience the scene like never before, through the eyes of the young girls that push it forward. In this short doc, we get a colourful, fast-paced, in-your-face introduction to the grrrl punk scene in Calgary. Using compiled interviews and footage of the bands performing, we’ve created a collage-style pastiche of a music doc. We explore the scene through a feminist perspective, coming to understand the solace that is found in the pit, and how girlhood intersects with rage in music.
