About this project

Project Description:
People Change is a short romantic drama that explores the emotional complexity of friendship, loss, and reconciliation. The story follows Brooklyn and Noah, former best friends whose relationship was fractured by miscommunication, personal struggles, and an ultimatum that forced them apart. Years later, they are unexpectedly reunited, forcing them to confront unresolved pain, shared history, and the possibility of rebuilding what they once had. Through intimate dialogue and emotionally charged flashbacks, the film examines how time, growth, and vulnerability can reshape relationships.

Objectives:
The primary objective of People Change is to authentically portray the emotional weight of fractured relationships and the difficulty of reconciliation. The film aims to:
1. Highlight how miscommunication and external pressures can damage even the strongest bonds.
2. Explore themes of abandonment, grief, and emotional dependency.
3. Demonstrate personal growth and the idea that people can change over time.
4. Create a deeply emotional connection between the audience and the characters through realism and vulnerability.

Methodologies:
To effectively communicate the film’s emotional depth, several creative and technical approaches were used:

Lighting Design: Warm lighting was used during intimate and emotionally vulnerable moments to create a sense of comfort, closeness, and emotional safety. In contrast, cooler lighting tones were used in scenes of tension, distance, and conflict to visually reinforce emotional separation between characters.

Sound and Silence: Silence plays a significant role throughout the film, allowing moments of tension and reflection to breathe naturally. Rather than relying heavily on dialogue, pauses and quiet moments emphasize unspoken emotions. Music is used selectively to support key emotional beats, enhancing the audience’s connection without overpowering the performances.

Narrative Structure: The use of flashbacks provides context to the characters’ fractured relationship, allowing the audience to understand the depth of their history. This juxtaposition of past and present highlights both the intensity of their bond and the impact of their separation.

Performance and Blocking: Close physical proximity, eye contact, and restrained movement were used in intimate scenes to convey emotional vulnerability, while physical distance and rigid body language emphasized conflict and disconnection.

Outcomes:
The final film successfully delivers an emotionally driven narrative that resonates with audiences through its relatability and authenticity. The contrast in lighting effectively reinforces shifts in emotional tone, while the strategic use of silence allows key moments to feel more impactful and genuine.

The performances, combined with the script’s focus on raw and honest dialogue, create a believable portrayal of two individuals navigating unresolved pain and rediscovering connection. Ultimately, People Change communicates the idea that while relationships can be broken, growth and vulnerability can open the door to healing and new beginnings.
